Up for sale is this beautiful and rare 1966 Volkswagen Beetle Pigalle edition with a sunroof. The Pigalle edition was offered by VW across its entire model range for just 2 short years. All of the cars got a completely red interior and even a red dashboard and steering wheel on all models except the Beetle. High contrasting interiors weren’t something found in European cars up until this point. Pigalle cars were offered in White, Black, and Gray. The vast majority of these cars are white. Black Pigalles are much more uncommon. VW Pigalle cars are extremely rare in general and typically missing impossible to find red interior pieces. This particular Beetle is a true survivor with a 100% original and intact interior. Further adding to this Beetle’s rarity is it’s Steel Sliding “Golde” sunroof. This Pigalle Beetle was ordered new by a couple from Medina, OH. They took part in Volkswagen’s European Tourist Delivery program and picked the Beetle up in Wolfsburg, Germany. (Photo below) The original owners toured Europe for awhile before shipping the car back to Ohio. Years later when Chuck’s wife passed away, the car was parked and stored for 27-years. The car was then sold and brought back to life just a few short years ago. Aside from 1 exterior re-respray, this Beetle is 100% original in every way.
